Knitted Socks

If you love the idea of knitting your own socks but don’t fancy starting from scratch, this one’s for you!

Come learn a new way to knit socks. Begin with a pre prepared knitted sock tube and learn to add an afterthought heel, toe and cuff. An afterthought heel is quite different to the usual heel, flap and gusset method, but nonetheless is a perfect fit

There are so many ways to knit a sock. This one takes all the work out of knitting the main body of the sock, and is a lot of fun. Your sock draw will be filled in no time!

You will choose a hand dyed knitted sock tube that’s been ‘cranked’ on a sock knitting machine using Ivy & Lilly yarn. This yarn is perfect for socks, machine washable, Super soft merino and

nylon mix. There will be many colours to choose from on the day, including contrast colours for the heels, toes and cuff.

The workshop will take place over two workshops in ‘3 hour’ sessions, where you will learn your new skills:-

How to use a 9” small circumference circular sock needle - this will take practice and an open mind to learn this skill

Remove waste yarn, pick up stitches, knit the toe, a 1x1 rib for cuff with stretchy bind off.

Measuring and working out your own foot size

Cutting the sock tube and inserting an ‘afterthought heel’ into the correct place.

Work extra stitches into each side of the heel so no gap is left

Kitchener stitch up your toe and heel

Included in price is:-

Unique colour way sock tube enough for a pair of socks, contrast yarn for heels, toes and Cuff *opportunity to purchase additional tubes at a special workshop price on the day

Project bag includes scissors, tape measure, stitch markers, tapestry needle, set of 5 Knitpro DPN’s size 2.5mm, 9” Knitpro circular sock needle 2.50mm
