Dads Behaving Madly is a support group in Scarborough for Dads and carers of children with disabilities. It’s a safe space for Dads with caring responsibilites to get together and be able to offload, gain peer to peer support and enjoy a few hours off. Dads/carers are able to share their lived experience, which often impacts on their mental health and social isolation, and seek support from peers that truly understand, in a safe environment. We invited them to give macrame a try…

Dads Behaving Madly : Tying Knots & Bonding Lots!

Last night, some of our awesome dads and carers from Dads Behaving Madly - Scarborough ventured way outside their comfort zones... all the way to The Stitching Lady on Gladstone Road for a Macramadventure!

Invited by the wonderful team at The Stitching Lady, we sat down for our very first Macrame class - and what a knot-ably great time we had! Six dads/carers, one table, a bucket-load of dad jokes, and a tangle of string (thankfully untangled with the help of experts Trudie & Sam).

It was more than just crafting - it was chatting, laughing, supporting each other, and yes, macra-making memories.

This was also the FIRST male group The Stitching Lady has hosted - and we couldn’t be more proud to have been the thread-setters!

Huge thanks to Trudie & Sam who guided us through every loop and knot - making us feel welcome, relaxed, and capable. We even managed to create some pretty awesome pieces (if we do say so ourselves) - check out the photos

So if you're a dad, carer, or just looking to try something new - go give macrame a try and support this brilliant local business. It’s a knot-to-be-missed experience!”
